Block Series - Modern Style - Block 4
Feb 08, 2023As I was quilting this block in the video the thread path didn't make much sense, lol. I was still trying to decide what to quilt! I struggled mostly with the grey parts of the block but as you can see I think it came together just fine.
If you are interested in watching the youtube video you can find that link here:
Also if you are interested in the pattern or panel you can find all that info here:
I stayed close to the original plan, but opted for a curved ruler in the gray areas instead of a straight ruler outline. The curve adds a dynamic touch. Here's my concept sketch.
My favorite aspect is adding the dot-to-dot details in the big square, it transforms the appearance of the entire block. As block number four, I hope you're recognizing some patterns. By consistently incorporating these shapes and elements in different ways, it creates a cohesive look.
Here are some FAQ's
The machine is an older Handi Quilter Avante with a stitch regulator.
I am using Glide Thread in the colour white.
The marking pen I use is a Kering blue water-soluble marker (any blue one will do).
Rulers are Rocket by Silly Moon Quilt Co., #8 and #10 Curve by the Quilted Pineapple
Happy stitching.
