Blocks Series - Modern Feathers - Block 9

I wrestled a little with the ideas I had for this block.  It is such a traditional block and I wanted it to be atypical and not completely predictable.  Thank you so much for watching it really means a lot! Here is a link to this week's video.

My first attempt at modern quilting with traditional feathers.  I broke the borders on this design and I quite liked it. 

But I had to do it all again so here is my concept drawing. 

This second design isn't really ground breaking, but I was hoping some inspiration would hit before I got too committed! 

So to jazz it up a bit I used the newest rulers by The Quilted Pineapple.  They are called Flex Rulers.  I haven't used them a lot, as I'm still learning.  I think this block came together quite well.  

Using new tools and building our skills is what this quilt-a-long is all about.  Even if you just take the inspiration and run with it!
