Blocks Series - Modern Feathers - Block 4

I wrestled with making this block the same as I had in the original version as it was so cool but ultimately decided that I had other ideas and needed to move in a different direction.   Here is a photo of the original scrappy version block.

I loved this quilt block and think it still has a modern feel.  I took elements from this design into the redesign. Keeping the dot-to-dot idea and using the feather as the center.  I removed the ribbon candy design (as I have with all the other blocks) and used a pearl chain and pebble pop filler instead. 

Having the feather building from the outside edge is a fun way to shake things up and make folks look a little closer.   The way the pebble design looks on the grey and green fabrics is my favourite part. 

The machine is an older Handi Quilter Avante with a stitch regulator.

I am using Glide Thread in the colour white. 

The marking pen I use is a Kering blue water-soluble marker (any blue one will do). 

I used my Rocket Ruler by Silly Moon Quilt Co. and the 12" straight ruler by Quilted Pineapple.
